THE OPPORTUNITY
The United States is in a moment of unprecedented public spending that has the potential to benefit virtually every issue that the philanthropic sector supports. Together, the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will deploy $3.8 trillion to American communities––with built-in opportunities to advance racial equity through the Racial Equity Executive Order and the Justice40 Initiative. While these historic appropriations have the potential to transform the lives of millions of low-income Americans and their families, that potential can only be met with strategic philanthropic co-investments to advance economic, climate, workforce, and equity goals.
Responding to this once-in-a-generation opportunity, Hyphen is spearheading the following initiatives to engage philanthropy in leveraging historic federal funding and maximizing its impact for underserved communities:
-
The Fund for Inclusive Entrepreneurship: A Collaboration with the Department of Treasury
-
The White House Community Violence Intervention Collaborative (CVIC)
-
Climate, Workforce, and Equity: A Collaboration with the Department of Transportation
